On a Sunday stroll on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn, I stumbled upon a small carpet and kilim shop. Kea is a fabulous little shop that sells rugs from all over the world. Susan, I believe the owner, was educating me on the meaning and back-story of each rug. Kilims hung on the wall like art and She was absolutely lovely. Very cool place!

Worth checking out!

DIRTY PINK!
Dirty or dusty pink it’s all the same. Weathered and wonderful, dirty pink is like the real version of it’s self. The un-perfect the soft and slightly damaged.

Which tone of pink do you gravitate towards? Share your thoughts with us on twitter @causerlai.

\text{Color harmony} = f(\text{Col} 1, 2, 3, \dots, n) \cdot (ID + CE + CX + P + T)

Wherein color harmony is a function (f) of the interaction between color/s (Col 1, 2, 3, …, n) and the factors that influence positive aesthetic response to color: individual differences (ID) such as age, gender, personality and affective state; cultural experiences (CE), the prevailing context (CX) which includes setting and ambient lighting; intervening perceptual effects (P) and the effects of time (T) in terms of prevailing social trends

causerlai:

Est article opens with, “Sarah Lavoine is the Kate Moss of the interior design scene in Paris.” Okay my interest is peeked!

Not only does she sound uber chic but, the use of paint and color in the above interiors is intriguing. Notice how she cuts the wall with color transition and breaks-up the space to create focal areas, all with just good old paint.

I’m sure most of you know that I have joined forces with my partner, Benjamin Lai, to create Causer+Lai. As a team of master painter and surface designer we have collectively created a beautiful collection of decorative wall finishes for residential and commercial spaces.
We are not your average decorative painting company! We like think of ourselves as pioneers in mixing modern design with old world painting techniques. Our love of Street Art, African colors, Japanese patterns, Jazz, Basquiat, and Gold have all come together with in our collection.
I’m so excited and honored to be creating with one of New York City’s finest Master painter’s. During this process I have learned so much about myself and the creative avenue I’m taking within this life. Causer+Lai has allowed me to revisit my first love fine art painting and apply it in interiors spaces.
Please check out our work and let us know what you think!
Enjoy!

Biedermeier baby!
The rise of the middle class! I have always been a fan of Biedermeier but lately I’ve become obsessed with mixing it with modern elements. This is no new concept, yet you don’t see it a lot. The middle class during 1815–1848 in German speaking countries, were eager to show off their taste in the decorative arts by simplifying the French Empire Style with local inexpensive woods. The flat broad silhouettes of this era are simple yet timeless.

Color your appliances with Summit! I am all over this… I believe Viking was the first company to offer such a feature, but the best thing about Summit offering such a product is that it’s more affordable and will fit in small spaces.

Enjoy,
