Reproduction Lighting: School House Electric

If you aren’t hip to School House Electric, check them out. School House does 1900’s - 1950’s light fixture reproductions. Not only beautiful, but there well made and cost effective for any project. (http://www.schoolhouseelectric.com/)

In the video above the Owner and Founder, Brian Faherty, speaks about light fixtures as the jewelry of a finished room. I love that! It’s so true.

I love School House Electric. I might even be obsessed. He looks so Portland and I love it.

Enjoy!

Portland Project II

Portland Project II is still juggling along. Above are progress pictures sent by the client. In the dinning area we found an amazing rustic table from Antiques and Oddities (http://www.antiquewholesale.net/) in Downtown Portland. We mixed the bench seating with two chairs from a different era. It adds more interest. We are still on the hunt for the perfect over head lighting.

The drapes are IKEA! Classic white cotton puddled on the floor. You can never go wrong when you go simple.

The armed side chair was a existing piece that the client owned. I have realized she has a Gothic undertone in her selections and style.

The Native American charcoal drawing, the mirror above the fireplace, and the tripod floor lamp was found deep in The Starr Antique Mall.

The Starr Antique Mall (http://starsantique.com/) was another amazing source located just outside of Portland.

The teal sofa was an amazing find on C-List! If you are not hip to the furniture or antique section on your local Craig’s List. Check it out!! You may have to dig, but normal people have some great deals on furniture, art, and decor. Don’t let the “weird” stigma detour you from a great find. I have met some very nice people while purchasing items on Craig’s List.

So, low and behold we are making some great progress on the project. The kitchen is next!

Thx!

The Portland South Water Front project was a success! Today Michael and I installed the final items. The client, a lovely professional couple from the Midwest, just needed a refresher on their one bedroom apartment in Portland.

We focused on simple decorations and additions to their fabulously designed high rise apartment. The balcony has a killer view, but the client really needed to bring more dominance to the interior.

We purchased a abstract painting from a local artist, Hilary Winfield, and installed the Staghorns Ferns on taxidermy plaques. With some simple lighting and some other decor the apartment had a more complete feel.

It was a pleasure working with them!

Project Bond Street

Project bond is a current project, that I hope to finish within the next week. They have been wonderful clients. Low maintenance! The couples apartment is in a high rise in PDX with an amazing view of the river. They’re both professional, worldly, and young!

Our first meeting went smooth, I got a sense that they just wanted a unified adult look with an ironic modern statement. We went soft on the irony! We used a Portland local painter. Her work is more abstract and textural. See the painting above and her Etsy shop. (www.hwinfield@etsy.com)

We are waiting for products and hope to install next weekend. Check out the above products they selected.

Staghorn ferns to come….
